Cherry Angel Dessert
I love cherries! For my birthday in February, I would often request a cherry pie instead of a cake. Another one of my favorite childhood desserts is this one, a combination of cherry pie filling, angel food cake and a creamy pudding. Mom made it in a 9x13 dish, but it would be beautiful in a trifle bowl.
Ingredients:
One angel food cake cut into cubes (8 cups)
1 large can of cherry pie filling
1 small package instant vanilla pudding
1 1/2 cups milk
1 cup sour cream
1 large container of whipped topping
In a trifle bowl or 9x13 inch pan place 4 cups of the cubed cake. Spoon with cherry pie filling reserving a little to decorate the top with. Over the cherries top with remaining cake cubes.
Combine the pudding mix, milk and sour cream, beat until smooth. Spoon pudding mixture over the top cake pieces topping with whipped cream. Decorate the top with reserved pie filling.
Chill 4 hours before serving.
